Lantana, FL (August 17, 2026) – An unidentified driver was killed early on Saturday after a car crossed the median and struck an oncoming minivan near Vilma Lane in Lantana. The crash happened shortly before 3:42 a.m. on August 15, near Jog Road and Vilma Lane, north of Lantana Road.
A 2026 Honda Civic was traveling north at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, hit the center median, and entered southbound traffic. The Civic spun, and its rear passenger side struck the front of a southbound 2015 Toyota Sienna. The Honda then left the roadway, hit a chain-link fence, and caught fire.
The Civic driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and officials had not identified the person or notified next of kin. The Sienna driver, 44-year-old Flor Del Rosario Elizabeth De Leon Mendez, and her 17-year-old passenger, Joanna De Leon, were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
