Why Early Morning Crashes Can Be Especially Severe
Crashes that occur in the early morning hours can be particularly dangerous due to reduced visibility and lower driver alertness. At this time of day, fatigue may also play a role, affecting reaction time and decision-making.
Traffic conditions may appear lighter, but higher travel speeds can increase the severity of a collision when one occurs. Investigators often review roadway conditions, lighting, and driver behavior to better understand how early morning crashes develop. These factors can combine to create situations where drivers have limited time to react to unexpected hazards.
