West Springfield, PA (August 31, 2026) – A 48-year-old man died on Saturday night after an SUV struck his electric bicycle in Springfield Township. The fatal collision occurred around 10:30 p.m. on August 29, near the intersection of West Ridge Road and Steinberg Road.
According to the police, a Hyundai SUV was traveling east on West Ridge Road when it struck the bicyclist. The man was riding his e-bike diagonally southeast across the roadway at the time of the accident. The bicyclist was identified as 48-year-old Peter A. Grzywinski of West Springfield. He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Hyundai was not injured.
Detectives said the driver did not see the bicyclist crossing the road before the collision. Emergency units responded to the area following the incident. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
