Salem, IL (June 12, 2026) – One person was injured on Thursday evening, June 11, after a two-vehicle crash on West Main Street on the west side of Salem.
The accident was reported around 5:20 p.m. in front of the Walmart store. The report said a pickup driven by 28-year-old Brock Giddens of Louisville was turning east onto West Main Street.
The pickup then collided with an eastbound car driven by 66-year-old Donna Moore of Salem. Moore was hurt in the collision. Moore was brought to Salem Township Hospital for treatment. Giddens was not injured.
The report said Giddens was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Further details about the extent of Moore’s injuries were not immediately available. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under review as more information is confirmed.
We hope Moore receives the care she needs and continues to recover.
Evening Traffic Near Store Entrances Requires Extra Care
Crashes near store entrances can happen where turning vehicles and through traffic meet. Drivers may be entering or leaving parking areas while other vehicles continue along the main road.
Evening traffic can add another challenge when shoppers, commuters, and local drivers are all moving through the same area. A vehicle turning onto a road may need enough space to merge safely with cars already traveling in that direction.
Reports in these cases may review vehicle movement, traffic flow, lane position, visibility, and where each vehicle made contact. Medical details may also take time to confirm when one person is taken for treatment. These facts help explain how a roadway collision near a business entrance unfolded.
