Ogle Co., IL (June 12, 2026) – A 66-year-old Rockford man was seriously injured early on Thursday, June 11, after a hit-and-run crash on Illinois Route 2 in Ogle County.
The accident was reported around 5:00 a.m. in the 10900 block of Illinois Route 2. Emergency units were called for a welfare check after a man was found in a ditch.
Investigators said the man had been struck by a passing vehicle that left the area after the collision. He was brought to Javon Bea Hospital. The man was later transferred to a hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, with serious injuries. His name was not released in the initial report.
The vehicle believed to have been involved was later found in Sterling. A 30-year-old Rockford man was arrested and released with a notice to appear. The circumstances surrounding the wreck remain under review as more information is confirmed.
