Itasca, IL (August 25, 2026) – Eight people were taken to local hospitals on Monday, August 24, after an 11-vehicle crash on Interstate 290 near Thorndale Avenue in Itasca. The collision happened at approximately 11:15 a.m.
The crash involved a semi-truck that rolled over, spilling concrete bricks across the roadway. The truck came to rest over the median, and several other vehicles were damaged.
Four eastbound lanes and three westbound lanes of Interstate 290 were closed, along with the eastbound ramp from Route 390 to Interstate 290, while crews worked at the scene. The lanes reopened at approximately 4:00 p.m.
Investigators continue reviewing the circumstances. We hope everyone injured recovers fully.
