How Quickly House Fires Can Spread in Residential Areas
House fires can grow rapidly, often doubling in size within minutes. Early detection and a fast response can significantly reduce the amount of damage and lower the risk of serious injury.
In many residential neighborhoods, homes are built close together. This can increase the risk of fire spreading to nearby structures if flames are not contained quickly. Smoke can also travel through attics and shared ventilation spaces.
Even when a fire is brought under control in less than an hour, smoke and heat can cause lasting damage inside a home. After a fire, inspections help determine whether the structure is safe and what repairs are needed before residents can fully return.
