Elgin, IL (January 14, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 near Elgin left five people injured and temporarily shut down westbound lanes Tuesday afternoon, according to the Illinois State Police.
The collision occurred shortly after 1 p.m. in the westbound lanes just east of the Randall Rd overpass. Authorities say the crash involved a white Ford pickup and a black Jeep SUV. Emergency medical crews responded quickly to the scene and transported five individuals to a nearby hospital for treatment. Specific details about their conditions were not immediately released.
Traffic was significantly impacted for approximately an hour as troopers worked alongside fire crews to clear the vehicles and ensure the safety of all motorists in the area. By shortly after 2 p.m., all lanes were reopened to regular traffic.
