Wilkes-Barre, PA (August 18, 2026) – One person died, and another was hospitalized after a residential fire on Monday evening, August 17, at 77 South Grant Street in Luzerne County.
The fire escalated to a second alarm as additional crews were called to the property. One civilian lost their life, while a second person was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire remains under review. We extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the person who died and hope the hospitalized resident recovers fully.
