Frequently Asked Questions
What usually causes pedestrian accidents like this one?
Many pedestrian crashes happen at intersections when a driver and a person on foot occupy the same space at the same time, often tied to limited visibility, distraction, or a driver failing to yield while turning or crossing a path.
Does the speed of the vehicle matter in pedestrian crashes?
Yes. Lower speeds generally give drivers more time to stop and reduce the force of impact, which affects how severe a pedestrian's injuries are likely to be.
Where do most pedestrian accidents happen?
A large share occur at or near intersections, where vehicle and pedestrian paths cross, though crashes also happen on roadways without marked crossings.
Are pedestrian crashes more likely to happen at night?
Reduced visibility after dark and during dusk hours makes it harder for drivers to see people crossing, which is a factor in many pedestrian crashes.
What to Do After a Pedestrian Accident in Farmersville, CA
If you witness or are involved in a pedestrian crash, call 911 immediately so medical help can reach the scene quickly. Avoid moving an injured person unless they are in immediate danger from traffic or other hazards. Stay nearby if it's safe to do so and share what you saw with responding officers.
Anyone struck by a vehicle, even if injuries seem minor at first, should be seen by a doctor. Some injuries, including internal ones, are not obvious right away. Keeping records of medical visits and any official reports can matter later, and following up with your own doctor after emergency treatment helps make sure nothing is missed.
