Why Collisions Involving Emergency Vehicles Can Be Severe
Crashes involving police or emergency vehicles are often high-risk because these vehicles frequently travel at increased speeds or through intersections with limited warning. Drivers nearby may not have enough time to react.
Even small passenger vehicles can sustain major damage in collisions with heavier emergency vehicles. Injuries can be severe, particularly for older drivers or those in smaller cars.
Investigation of such crashes focuses on speed, right-of-way, and roadway conditions to determine contributing factors and help prevent similar incidents in the future.
