Cleveland, OH (July 19, 2026) – A man died, and another was injured after a boat crashed into rocks near Starve Island in Lake Erie. The incident happened early on Saturday morning, July 18, with three men aboard the vessel.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, crews were called around 3 a.m. after receiving a report of a boat that had run aground. A boat crew and a helicopter crew responded to the area, where two men were pulled from the water, and a third man was located and rescued. One man was found unconscious, while another suffered major injuries.
The three men were taken to hospitals in Cleveland and Port Clinton for treatment. One of the men was later pronounced dead at 6:20 a.m. The vessel remained on the rocks following the crash, and the incident remains under review by authorities. Our condolences go out to the victim’s loved ones.
