Lumberton, NC (August 13, 2026) – A person was killed on Tuesday morning, August 11, after being struck by a vehicle along Interstate 95 near Lumberton in Robeson County.
According to the Lumberton Police Department, officers received a 911 call shortly after 9 a.m. reporting that someone may have been struck near Exit 17 in the northbound lanes of I-95. Lumberton police, the Lumberton Fire Department, and Robeson County EMS responded to the scene.
First responders found one person dead at the scene. Investigators said preliminary information indicates the victim was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling north on I-95.
The victim has not been positively identified. Police said additional information may be released as the investigation continues. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
