Why Seat Belt Use Matters for Child Passengers
Seat belts remain one of the most effective safety measures for vehicle occupants, including children. Proper restraints help reduce the risk of serious harm by limiting movement during sudden stops or vehicle contact. Safety experts recommend that children use age- and size-appropriate restraints, including booster seats when required.
Child passenger safety laws vary by state, but they are designed to ensure young occupants receive the highest level of protection available. Even during short trips, wearing a seat belt can significantly lower the chances of severe injury.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to regularly check that seat belts and child restraint systems fit correctly. Proper use of these safety devices can make a substantial difference in protecting young passengers during unexpected roadway emergencies.
