What Information Is Often Gathered After an Intersection Crash?
After a serious intersection crash, investigators typically review several factors to determine how the vehicles came together. Traffic signal timing, vehicle positions, skid marks, and witness statements can all help clarify what occurred before the roadway collision.
Intersections often involve multiple turning movements and changing traffic patterns, which can increase the chance of confusion between drivers. Visibility, speed, and driver reaction times may also become important when reviewing how a two-vehicle crash unfolded.
Vehicle damage can provide additional insight into the direction and force of contact. In some cases, nearby surveillance cameras or dashboard video may also help piece together the sequence of events. Early reports usually focus on basic facts while investigators continue collecting and reviewing evidence from the roadway.
