What Should Homeowners Know About Fires Inside Walls?
Fires that begin or spread inside walls can be difficult to detect and control because flames may travel through hidden spaces. Fire crews often need to open parts of a wall to locate the source and make sure the fire is fully extinguished.
Smoke detectors can provide an early warning and may help people leave safely before a fire grows. Regular maintenance, including checking alarms and addressing electrical or heating concerns, can help reduce fire risks. Firefighters responding to hidden fires may face additional challenges because the source of the flames is not always visible from the outside. These situations require careful evaluation to prevent the fire from spreading.
