What Typically Happens After a Police Chase Ends in a Crash in Texas?
When a pursuit ends in a collision, the sequence of events leading up to it becomes a key part of what gets reviewed. Officers document where the chase began, how long it lasted, what speeds were involved, and the conditions on the road at the time. This information helps establish a clear picture of how the wreck came about.
The legal process following a pursuit-related crash can involve multiple charges. In Texas, evading arrest or detention in a vehicle is a felony, and charges can become more serious when another person is hurt as a result. Age does not necessarily shield a person from felony prosecution, particularly when serious harm is involved.
Medical documentation also becomes part of the record in crashes where injuries are reported. The extent of harm to those hurt is typically assessed at the hospital and may factor into how charges are ultimately filed.
