Frequently Asked Questions
Do bicycle crashes happen more frequently at intersections?
Yes. Intersections are a common crash point because they involve turning vehicles, cross traffic, and limited visibility between drivers and cyclists sharing the same path of travel.
What injuries do cyclists typically suffer in these crashes?
Cyclists struck by vehicles frequently suffer head injuries, broken bones, and internal injuries, since they have little protection compared to someone inside a car.
What usually causes car-bicycle collisions?
Common factors include drivers failing to see cyclists, turning vehicles crossing a cyclist's path, low-light conditions, and vehicles and bikes sharing narrow roadways without separated lanes.
