Pedestrian Safety and Truck-Related Crashes
Crashes involving pedestrians and large trucks are often severe due to the size and weight of commercial vehicles. Intersections can be particularly dangerous, as turning vehicles and limited visibility increase the risk of collisions. Pedestrians struck by trucks face a high likelihood of fatal injuries, especially when trapped beneath the vehicle. Awareness of surroundings, adherence to traffic signals, and safe crossing practices are critical for pedestrian safety. Vehicle drivers, particularly those operating large trucks, must exercise caution at busy intersections to prevent accidents and protect vulnerable road users.
