Suffolk, VA (September 1, 2026) – Two men were injured in a four-vehicle crash early on Monday morning, August 31, on northbound Interstate 664 at the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel, prompting an emergency response. The collision happened around 5:17 a.m. and shut down all northbound lanes.
Virginia State Police reported that both men suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment. William Strickland, 46, of Chesapeake, was charged with following too closely.
All northbound lanes had reopened by 6:15 a.m., though traffic delays extended for about four miles. The incident remains under review.
