Fresno, CA (January 7, 2026) – A teenager from Kansas was tragically killed Friday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on Auberry Rd, just south of Summit Mountain Rd near Fresno, according to local authorities.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 17-year-old Jayce Alonzo of Junction City, Kansas. The fatal crash occurred just before 3:00 p.m. on January 2.
California Highway Patrol reports indicate that Alonzo was riding his motorcycle along a curved stretch of Auberry Rd when, for reasons still under investigation, he veered into the opposing lane and collided head-on with a Ford F-350 truck. Alonzo was reportedly riding with a family member at the time of the crash.
The force of the impact ejected Alonzo from his motorcycle, and he was thrown nearly 75 feet from the point of collision. Emergency responders arrived quickly but sadly pronounced him dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the collision and whether speed, road conditions, or other factors played a role.
Our hearts go out to Jayce Alonzo’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
