CHEROKEE, Cherokee County, S.C., Sept. 24, 2026 — One person died Wednesday night, September 23, in a two-vehicle crash near the Peachoid water tower in Gaffney, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The collision happened around 9:20 p.m. on Peachoid Road, about half a mile from the landmark tower, according to troopers. A moped traveling west reportedly collided with a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox that was turning left onto Whelchel Road.
The moped driver died at the scene. The Chevrolet's driver and a passenger in that vehicle were not hurt, and no other injuries were reported.
