Gates, NY (March 10, 2026) – Police have identified the family involved in Thursday’s, March 5, crash that killed a 6-month-old baby in Gates. Jake, Kelly, and Noah Carpenter were stopped at a traffic light in their SUV on Buffalo Road at Howard Road when another eastbound SUV struck them from behind at high speed. Both parents were severely injured, and their infant son did not survive.
The collision caused heavy damage to both vehicles. A utility pole also fell onto the striking SUV, which came to rest on Howard Road. Emergency units responded promptly to the scene. The incident remains under review by authorities.
