Frequently Asked Questions
How does speed affect the severity of a crash like this?
Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force of impact, which tends to produce more serious injuries and heavier vehicle damage at intersections.
Why is distracted driving especially risky at intersections?
A momentary lapse in attention can cause a driver to miss a stop sign, signal, or oncoming vehicle, which is often how cross-traffic and entering-the-intersection crashes happen.
What should I do right after a car accident?
Move to a safe spot if possible, call 911, exchange information with the other driver, and get checked by a medical provider even if injuries aren't immediately obvious.
What to Do After a Car Accident in Gig Harbor, WA
Anyone involved in a crash in Gig Harbor should prioritize a medical check-up, since some injuries, especially from impact or jolting, don't show symptoms right away. Keep records of any treatment, document the scene with photos if it's safe to do so, and file a report with local law enforcement if one hasn't already been taken. Contacting your insurance provider promptly can also help avoid delays in getting a damaged vehicle assessed or repaired.
