Frequently Asked Questions
What are the most common causes of car accidents?
Distracted driving, failure to yield at intersections, speeding, and misjudging another driver's path are among the most frequent factors in two-vehicle crashes.
How does speed affect crash severity?
Higher speeds increase the force of impact and reduce the time drivers have to react, which tends to make injuries more serious even in lower-speed intersection crashes.
Why is distracted driving so dangerous at intersections?
Intersections require constant attention to cross traffic, signals, and turning vehicles. A few seconds of distraction can mean missing a stop sign, signal, or oncoming car.
What to Do After a Car Accident in Grandview, WA
If you're involved in a two-vehicle crash, try to move to a safe spot if possible and check yourself and others for injuries before calling 911. Even if you feel fine, it's worth getting checked by a medical professional, since some injuries, like whiplash or internal bruising, don't show symptoms right away. Make sure to exchange information with the other driver, take photos of the scene and vehicle damage if you're able, and wait for police to arrive and document the crash. Keep a copy of the police report for your records, and follow up with your doctor if any pain or stiffness develops in the days afterward.
