GREEN TOWNSHIP, Hamilton County, Ohio, Oct. 27, 2026 — A high school student was seriously hurt Monday morning, October 26, after being struck by a vehicle while walking to school in Green Township, Ohio. The student was taken to a hospital following the crash, according to Green Township Police.
The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. on Lawrence Road, a few hundred feet west of Moonridge Drive, Green Township Police Capt. Mitch Hill said. The student attends Oak Hills High School. The driver stayed at the scene after the crash.
Some neighbors said they believe limited visibility along that stretch of Lawrence Road may have played a role, and several described speeding as a recurring concern on the street, where multiple families with children live. Those accounts have not been confirmed by investigators.
Capt. Hill said the crash remains under investigation, but authorities do not believe alcohol, drugs or speed were factors at this time. Oak Hills High School said in a statement that the student and his family are in the school's thoughts.
We hope everyone who was hurt makes a full and speedy recovery.

In most states, including Ohio, pedestrians in a marked or unmarked crosswalk generally have the right of way, though drivers and walkers both share responsibility for watching out for each other at intersections.
