Greene Co, MO (February 1, 2026) – An early morning traffic accident involving multiple vehicles led to injuries and roadway disruption on Friday along US-160, approximately half a mile north of Battlefield. The collision was reported around 7:45 a.m. as drivers were traveling eastbound through the area during the morning commute.
According to initial reports, traffic conditions along US-160 had begun to slow when the accident occurred. As vehicles reduced speed, a sequence of impacts took place involving a pickup truck and two SUVs. The collision resulted in moderate damage to all three vehicles, prompting an emergency response and the temporary obstruction of traffic lanes while assistance was provided.
Emergency responders from Battlefield arrived at the scene and immediately began assessing those involved. Paramedics evaluated multiple motorists and provided care to individuals suffering from a variety of injuries following the accident. Two drivers, a 33-year-old woman and a 53-year-old woman, sustained injuries described as minor and were transported by ambulance to Cox South for further medical treatment and evaluation. Their current conditions have not been released, but hospital transport was deemed necessary as a precaution.
The vehicles involved included a 2001 Ford F350, a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, and a 2022 Kia Sorento. Each vehicle sustained moderate damage as a result of the collision and required towing services to be removed from the roadway. Tow trucks were called in to clear the scene, allowing traffic to gradually resume once debris and disabled vehicles were removed.
Accidents of this nature highlight the risks associated with sudden changes in traffic flow, particularly during busy travel hours. Even when drivers are exercising caution, unexpected slowdowns can create dangerous situations on roadways, emphasizing the importance of maintaining safe following distances and remaining alert to changing conditions.
The accident remains under investigation as officials work to gather additional information. Authorities have not released further details at this time.
