Greene, MO (January 19, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle collision west of Springfield on Business 44 late on Saturday night left one woman hospitalized and resulted in significant damage to multiple vehicles.
The accident happened at approximately 9:20 p.m. on January 17, about 500 feet west of Springfield in Greene County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident unfolded when a 2023 Dodge Challenger, driven by a 72-year-old man from East Springfield, OH, traveled through a red light. The Challenger was then struck by two other vehicles, an eastbound 2020 Lexus RX350 and a westbound 2024 Ford F-150.
A 50-year-old female passenger in the Lexus, a Springfield resident, suffered serious injuries in the crash. She was properly restrained and transported by ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment.
The Lexus and the Dodge Challenger sustained extensive to total damage and were towed from the scene by Henry’s Wrecker. The Ford F-150, which had moderate damage, was able to be driven away from the crash site. All parties involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, and no additional injuries were reported.
Trooper G.T. Hackett managed the scene and is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision. The incident remains under official review to determine any further contributing factors.
