Frequently Asked Questions
What injuries are most common when a scooter rider is hit by a vehicle?
Riders usually suffer head and brain injuries, broken bones, and road rash, since they have little protection in a crash with a car or truck.
What typically causes crashes between drivers and scooter riders?
Common factors include drivers failing to yield at crosswalks or intersections, limited visibility, and distracted driving on either side.
Does vehicle speed change how serious these crashes are?
Yes. Even modest increases in speed raise the force of impact and the likelihood of severe injury to someone on a scooter.
Why is distracted driving especially risky around crosswalks?
A driver who looks away for even a second or two may miss a pedestrian or scooter rider already in the crosswalk, leaving no time to stop.

Reporting the crash to local police creates an official record, which can matter later for insurance or medical follow-up.
