Why Do Intersection Crashes Often Result in Injuries?
Intersection crashes can lead to injuries because vehicles are often traveling in different directions at the time of impact. These collisions may involve side impacts or sudden changes in movement, which can increase the force experienced by occupants.
Rural intersections may also have fewer traffic controls or limited visibility compared to urban roadways. Investigators commonly review vehicle speed, right-of-way, and driver visibility to understand how a crash occurred. Road conditions, signage, and impact locations are also used to help reconstruct the sequence of events.
