Speed-Related Rollovers Bring Major Safety Hazards
Rollover crashes can cause severe injuries because occupants may be thrown against windows, doors, seats, or the roof as the vehicle turns over. Heavy damage may also make it harder for emergency units to reach people inside.
Speed can increase the risk of a rollover by reducing the time a driver has to react and making it harder to regain control after leaving the lane. When a vehicle enters a ditch, the slope or uneven ground may cause it to flip.
After a serious rollover accident, investigators frequently review speed, road design, tire marks, vehicle damage, alcohol-related evidence, and where the SUV came to rest. These details help explain how the crash happened and whether additional factors contributed.
