What Happens During a Crash With Entrapment?
A crash with entrapment occurs when someone inside a vehicle cannot exit on their own due to damage. This happens when doors are crushed or the frame of the vehicle is bent.
Fire crews use specialized tools to cut or pry open parts of the vehicle. The goal is to safely remove the person without causing further harm.
These scenes can take longer to clear because of the careful work involved. Multiple ambulances may be requested when several people are hurt or when injuries appear serious.
