New York, NY (August 24, 2026) – A 22-year-old woman was killed early on Sunday, August 23, after being struck by a vehicle while walking in a crosswalk at West Washington Place and Sixth Avenue in the West Village.
The woman was walking westbound through the West Washington Place crossing when an unidentified vehicle hit her. The driver left the scene after the collision.
Emergency medical personnel took the woman to Bellevue Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name had not been released in the initial report. Investigators are searching for the driver and continue examining the circumstances surrounding the crash.
