What Happens During a Hit-and-Run Investigation After a Bicycle Crash?
A hit-and-run involving a bicyclist requires investigators to gather evidence from several sources to determine exactly what happened. Physical evidence left along the roadway, damage to the bicycle, and any debris from the other vehicle may help establish how the contact occurred. Witness statements and nearby surveillance footage can also provide valuable details.
When a possible vehicle has been identified, investigators may compare visible damage with evidence collected from the roadway. Vehicle inspections, photographs, and other documentation can help determine whether the vehicle was involved. In some cases, electronic data or additional witness interviews may also contribute to the review.
Medical records can provide further insight into the severity of a person’s injuries and how the contact affected them. As more evidence is analyzed, additional facts may emerge, providing a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding the bicycle crash.
