Canton, OH (August 1, 2026) – Two people were hospitalized after a house explosion on Bonnot Pl NE in Canton early on Thursday morning, July 30, before 4 a.m. Fire crews responded to the home in the 1600 block after reports of the blast.
According to Canton Fire officials, the explosion destroyed the home and was caused by natural gas. One person was found in the street after being thrown from the home by the force of the blast and was taken to a hospital with serious burns. That person told firefighters another person was inside the residence. Crews later located the second person nearby on 15th Street NE, and he was taken to Aultman Hospital with severe burns. He was expected to be moved to a burn center for additional treatment.
The incident remains under review as officials continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
