What Investigators Often Review After a Fatal House Fire
After a deadly house fire, investigators usually begin by examining where the fire started and how it spread through the structure. Burn patterns, smoke damage, and structural conditions inside the home can help determine the origin of the fire.
Electrical systems, heating equipment, kitchen appliances, and smoking materials are among the common areas reviewed during these investigations. Fire officials may also examine whether smoke alarms were present and functioning properly. In severe fires, damage to walls, ceilings, and flooring can make the investigation more complex, requiring a detailed analysis of debris and fire movement throughout the residence.
