Frequently Asked Questions
What factors make a crash more likely to be fatal?
High speed differences between vehicles, limited visibility, and the size or weight mismatch between a passenger vehicle and a commercial truck can all raise the chance that a crash turns deadly.
How does speed affect crash survivability?
Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force of impact, which raises the risk of serious or fatal injury even in a single collision.
Why does seat belt use matter so much?
A seat belt keeps an occupant positioned in the seat during a crash and reduces the chance of being thrown into the dashboard, windshield, or out of the vehicle entirely.
What should families do after a fatal crash?
Families typically start by requesting the official crash report from the investigating agency and contacting the medical examiner's office for information on next steps.
