What Drivers Should Know About Motorcycle Crashes on Highways
Motorcycle crashes on interstate highways can result in serious injuries because riders have less physical protection than people inside larger vehicles. Heavy traffic, high speeds, lane changes, and limited visibility can increase the risk of a motorcycle being struck by another vehicle.
Drivers should check blind spots carefully before changing lanes and maintain enough space to react to motorcycles ahead. Motorcyclists can also improve visibility by using headlights, reflective gear, and clear lane positioning.
After a highway collision, information such as vehicle damage, roadway conditions, photographs, and statements from witnesses can help establish what occurred. Medical records may also document the extent of injuries and the treatment received. These records can be especially useful when injuries are not immediately apparent.
