La Feria, TX (June 16, 2026) – La Feria Police Department and emergency units responded to a morning accident scene that happened at about 9:31 a.m. on Monday, June 15, on the eastbound expressway in La Feria.
Official statements confirmed that three vehicles were involved in the crash, and it left two people with injuries. Authorities said a vehicle lost control on the roadway, causing two other vehicles traveling through traffic to swerve in an attempt to avoid it. The evasive actions led to two separate secondary crashes involving the other vehicles.
A female juvenile and a man inside the vehicle that caught fire were able to exit safely before the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames. Both occupants were taken to a local hospital as a precaution. Authorities have not released additional details about the extent of their injuries or the cause of the initial loss of control. We wish the injured a swift recovery.
How Secondary Crashes Can Develop After a Vehicle Loses Control
Secondary crashes can happen when drivers react suddenly to avoid an unexpected hazard on the roadway. A vehicle that loses control may force nearby drivers to brake, change lanes, or make quick movements, creating additional risks for surrounding traffic.
Factors such as speed, traffic volume, roadway conditions, and driver reaction time can influence whether a secondary collision occurs. When a vehicle catches fire after a crash, emergency responders must also address safety concerns related to the flames, fuel, and possible hazards from the damaged vehicle. Investigators often review the sequence of events, vehicle positions, and roadway conditions to understand how the crash developed.
