What Information Is Helpful After a Multi-Vehicle Collision?
After a multi-vehicle collision, several types of information can help establish what happened. Vehicle positions, visible damage, and debris patterns may provide useful details about how the vehicles came together. Photographs taken before vehicles are moved can also preserve conditions that may change quickly.
Witness accounts can help clarify traffic movements, lane positions, and what happened immediately before the collision. Information about traffic signals, signs, weather, and visibility may also be relevant. Medical records can document the nature and extent of injuries and may become useful when treatment continues after the day of the accident. Insurance information, vehicle details, and contact information for witnesses are also commonly retained following a serious roadway collision.
