What Can Affect Injuries in Two-Vehicle Intersection Crashes?
Intersection crashes can happen when vehicles approach from different directions, and their paths cross. The severity of an impact can depend on vehicle speed, the direction of travel, and the point where the vehicles make contact.
The type of vehicles involved can also affect the outcome. Differences in size, weight, and safety features may influence the amount of damage and the forces experienced by occupants.
Some injuries may not be immediately apparent after a crash. Medical personnel can evaluate people at the scene and determine whether hospital treatment is needed. Roadway conditions, traffic controls, visibility, and vehicle positions may also provide useful information about how a collision occurred.
