Anaheim, CA (September 10, 2026) – An injury crash involving two vehicles was reported Tuesday, September 8, on northbound Interstate 5 just south of the Katella Avenue off-ramp in Anaheim.

The California Highway Patrol initially classified the collision as a no-injury crash before later changing it to a traffic collision involving an emergency response. Two vehicles were reported in the center divider.

A CHP unit requested an ambulance for a person involved in the crash, and a tow truck with a flatbed was also requested. The Freeway Service Patrol later closed its incident after the roadway response.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this crash and those who were injured. We wish the victim a full and speedy recovery.

Why Can Freeway Crashes Become More Dangerous Near Off-Ramps?

Freeway off-ramps are areas where traffic patterns can change quickly as drivers prepare to exit, merge, or continue along the highway. Vehicles may slow suddenly when approaching an exit, while other motorists may be moving across lanes to reach the proper ramp. These changes can increase the importance of maintaining awareness of surrounding traffic.

If you are traveling near an off-ramp, you should avoid making abrupt lane changes and should signal well before moving toward an exit. Keeping enough space between vehicles gives motorists additional time to react if traffic slows unexpectedly. Checking mirrors and blind spots can also help drivers recognize vehicles approaching from adjacent lanes.

Congestion near freeway exits can become especially difficult when a collision blocks part of the roadway. Motorists approaching an incident should reduce speed gradually and watch for stopped vehicles, emergency crews, and changing lane patterns. Remaining predictable and avoiding distractions can help reduce the risk of another crash.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
