San Diego, CA (June 24, 2026) – At least one person was hurt in a hit-and-run along northbound State Route 15 near University Avenue in San Diego on June 23.
According to dispatch information, the call was reported shortly before 5:00 a.m. Initial reports indicated that a large black truck struck another vehicle from behind before leaving the roadway. The affected vehicle then went up an embankment following the contact.
Additional details indicated that the vehicle later left the freeway and struck a tree near Central Avenue and Landis Street, close to a skate park. The person who reported the crash repeatedly stated that the other driver hit them and left the area before help arrived.
Emergency units assisted at the site, and a tow service was requested. Information regarding the extent of injuries and the identities of those involved had not been released as of this report. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and work to determine the circumstances surrounding the hit-and-run.
