Why Intersection Crashes Often Lead to Injuries
Intersections are among the most common places for traffic collisions because vehicles traveling in different directions must cross paths within a limited space. Drivers may need to judge speed, distance, and traffic signals quickly, which can increase the chance of errors during busy travel periods.
Rural highway intersections can present additional risks when vehicles are moving at higher speeds. Even during dry weather, crashes may happen if one driver misjudges another vehicle’s approach or fails to clear the crossing safely. After these roadway collisions, investigators often examine skid marks, vehicle positions, and traffic patterns to better understand how the sequence unfolded. Visibility, roadway design, and traffic control signs may also become part of the review process.
