Why Intersections Can Be Especially Dangerous for Motorcyclists
Busy intersections are commonly considered one of the most hazardous places for motorcycle riders. Turning vehicles, limited visibility, and sudden traffic changes can increase the risk of serious harm, especially when drivers fail to notice smaller vehicles approaching. Crashes involving motorcycles frequently lead to severe injuries because riders have far less physical protection than occupants inside passenger vehicles.
Road design, traffic signals, and driver awareness can all influence safety at intersections. In many cases, investigators later review traffic patterns, vehicle positioning, and witness statements to understand better how a motorcycle collision unfolded. Weather, lighting, and roadway congestion may also become part of the review process when serious injuries are reported after a crash.
