Jackson Co, FL (January 25, 2026) – A 22-year-old pedestrian was tragically killed after being struck by two vehicles while walking on State Road 77 around midnight on Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal incident occurred when a 23-year-old Alabama man was traveling northbound on SR-77. The pedestrian, a Caryville resident, reportedly entered the roadway from the east shoulder and stood in the northbound lane. The silver pickup truck driven by the Alabama man struck the individual, throwing them into the southbound lanes.
Moments later, a 35-year-old woman from Chipley, driving an SUV, struck the pedestrian a second time. Troopers confirmed that the pedestrian died at the scene as a result of the impact.
Neither of the drivers involved in the crash sustained injuries, and no additional vehicles were reported to be involved. The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the circumstances of the tragic collision.
