Jackson, MS (January 14, 2026) – Emergency crews responded Tuesday afternoon to a traffic accident with injuries on the northbound side of Interstate 55 near the Lakeland Drive interchange in Jackson.
Engine 16 and Rescue 17 were dispatched around 4:10 p.m. after reports of a crash involving at least one injured person. Upon arrival, responders assessed those involved and provided medical care at the scene. The extent of the injuries has not yet been released, and the total number of people involved remains unconfirmed.
The incident caused temporary traffic disruptions along I-55 as responders worked to assist the injured and clear the roadway. Vehicles were eventually moved to restore traffic flow safely through the area.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not indicated whether speed, weather, or other factors played a role in the collision.
