Jasper Co, MO (January 30, 2026) – A two-car accident east of Duquesne along MO-66 left a 19-year-old driver with injuries on Thursday afternoon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred around 2:20 p.m. when a 2002 Ford Mustang, driven by a Joplin teen, entered the path of a westbound 2007 Buick Lucerne. The impact sent both vehicles off the roadway, one veering right and the other to the left, resulting in total damage to both cars. Authorities noted that both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Emergency personnel responded swiftly, and the young female driver of the Mustang was transported to Freeman Hospital in Joplin with injuries described as minor. The male driver of the Buick, a 40-year-old from Joplin, was reportedly uninjured.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene, with Schrader’s Wrecker and Chuck’s Towing assisting with the recovery. The crash remains under investigation by Trooper D. J. Maupin of Troop D as officials work to determine any contributing factors beyond the reported failure to yield.
Our thoughts are with the injured teen, and we wish her a smooth and full recovery.
