Jasper County, SC (January 18, 2026) – A devastating house fire claimed the lives of two children and left three others injured early Friday morning in the Okatie area of Jasper County.
According to Coroner Jeremiah Vaigneur, the fire broke out around 5 a.m. on January 16 at a residence in the Midway Mobile Home Park. The victims, a 1-year-old child and a 16-year-old teen, tragically died as a result of injuries sustained in the blaze. Their names have not been released due to their ages.
Three additional individuals were injured during the fire and received medical attention. The extent of their injuries has not been publicly disclosed.
Local firefighters and emergency crews responded swiftly to the scene and worked to contain the flames and assist the victims. Authorities have not yet announced the cause of the fire, and an investigation is underway to determine what led to the tragic incident.
