Jasper, MO (January 26, 2026) – A two-vehicle accident involving semi-trucks during hazardous winter weather conditions resulted in injuries late on Saturday night along I-44 in Jasper County, near the area of Fidelity.
According to reports from Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash took place at approximately 11:47 p.m. when a 2000 Freightliner Cascadia, traveling eastbound, lost control amid dangerous road conditions. The Freightliner collided into the rear of a 2023 International LS532, which was also headed eastbound.
The force of the impact caused moderate damage to both vehicles. Emergency crews responded promptly, and the 37-year-old driver of the International, identified as a male from El Oro, Mexico, suffered injuries. He was treated at the scene before being transported by EMS to Mercy Carthage for further evaluation.
The 72-year-old male driver of the Freightliner, a resident of Lebanon, OH, was reportedly uninjured and remained at the scene. Troopers noted that both drivers were wearing safety restraints at the time of the crash.
Tow services were required to remove the damaged International from the roadway, while the Freightliner was secured roadside. Authorities are continuing to investigate the contributing factors, though initial findings cite winter weather as a key element in the incident.
Motorists traveling through Jasper County faced temporary delays as responders worked to clear the scene. We extend our well wishes to the injured driver and hope for a swift recovery.
